About Ilya Sutskever
Ilya Sutskever is an AI researcher and CEO of Safe Superintelligence, a company focused on developing AI capabilities and safety together. In a July 2025 company update, he announced that he had formally become CEO and that the technical team continued to report to him.
Previously, he was a co-founder and chief scientist of OpenAI, where he worked on GPT models. His earlier research includes contributions to AlexNet and sequence-to-sequence learning. He earned a PhD in computer science from the University of Toronto.
