It is not a new idea. It landed now because Claude Code, Codex, and Cursor make the mechanical layer feel replaceable — and because vibecoding culture already admitted many builders ship without knowing what JSON is.

Our reply — programming is a creative language

We replied directly to kache. Yash Thakker (@goyashy), explainx.ai founder and author of this post, pushed back on the premise that programming is low-intelligence or a waste of human time:

i don't think so. it's as creative as a language, in fact a language you use to communicate with a computer. basis what you said every language is pointless and waste of human time.

That is the counter-argument in one blockquote. kache's tweet treats implementation as disposable drudgery. Our reply treats code as a medium — same category as poetry, law, or mathematics: constrained symbols that carry intent across a gap (human mind → silicon).

If programming is a "god awful waste" because machines can eventually absorb the translation layer, the same logic applies to every expressive language humans use. We do not call French pointless because Google Translate exists. We call French human — and programming is human communication aimed at a machine that has no intuition.

That does not deny kache's narrower point: much routine syntax is low marginal value in 2026. It denies the totalizing frame. Creative language and boilerplate coexist in the same profession the way lyric and cliché coexist in writing.


What kache is actually claiming

Read charitably, the tweet is not "engineers are stupid." It is:

The provocation did not arrive in a vacuum. Same day, kache posted:

  • "You know how people uninstall social media apps on their phones because they're addicted? I'm uninstalling the terminal emulator on my phone"

He also commented under indie game devs, complimenting their progress and noting how great it has been since they started using AI to help them code.

That complicates a simple read. kache is not a pure "never touch a keyboard again" absolutist in private — he celebrates builders who orchestrate with agents. The public tweet targets the mechanical layer; the indie-dev replies show he still values shipping. Our creative-language reply and his agent-assisted praise are compatible: delegate syntax, keep intent.

"Programming" was insane because it was one of the most legitimately dangerous activities with the potential to gigafry your brain but was exclusively pervaded by literal turboautists who unironically want to like "refactor working code" and basically get one shotted by it

Dark comedy — but it names why kache's tweet hurts: many engineers like the refactor loop. If that loop is "low intelligence," identity crisis follows.

David Cramer (@zeeg) replied "Accurate" — then noted he has coded valuable things and used LLMs for parts of it. Hybrid reality: not all code is waste; much routine code might be.


Ben Dickson — narrative violation

We've gone from "programming is for nerds" to "programming is a low-intelligence task." I totally disagree. But it is also true that AI is systematically violating many established narratives.
