Setup

If $TRANSCRIPT_API_KEY is not set, help the user create an account (100 free credits, no card):

Step 1 — Register: Ask user for their email.

node ./scripts/tapi-auth.js register --email USER_EMAIL

→ OTP sent to email. Ask user: "Check your email for a 6-digit verification code."

Step 2 — Verify: Once user provides the OTP:

node ./scripts/tapi-auth.js verify --token TOKEN_FROM_STEP_1 --otp CODE

API key saved to your shell profile and agent config. Ready to use.

Endpoints

Channel endpoints accept channel — an @handle, channel URL, or UC... ID. No need to resolve first. Playlist endpoints accept playlist — a playlist URL or ID.

How to use transcriptapi on Cursor

Prerequisites
Before installing skills in Cursor, ensure your development environment meets these requirements:
›Cursor installed and configured on your development machine
›Node.js version 16.0+ with npm package manager (verify with node --version)
›Active project directory or workspace where you want to add transcriptapi

Execute installation command
Execute the skills CLI command in your project's root directory to begin installation:
$npx skills add https://github.com/zeropointrepo/youtube-skills --skill transcriptapicopy
The skills CLI fetches transcriptapi from GitHub repository zeropointrepo/youtube-skills and configures it for Cursor.

Select Cursor when prompted
The CLI will show a list of available agents. Use arrow keys to navigate and space to select Cursor:

Verify installation
Confirm successful installation by checking the skill directory location:
.cursor/skills/transcriptapi
Reload or restart Cursor to activate transcriptapi. Access the skill through slash commands (e.g., /transcriptapi) or your agent's skill management interface.
