AI Doomer

AI doomer is a label, sometimes self-applied and sometimes used mockingly by critics, for people who believe advanced AI poses a serious risk of catastrophic or existential harm.

Ask Melo about this← all terms

Doomers argue that current safety techniques may not scale to much more capable future systems, and push for caution, slower development, or stronger regulation. The term sits opposite "e/acc" on the informal spectrum of AI development attitudes, and both sides use each other's labels somewhat pejoratively.
