Meet Melo, your AI tutor
Melo teaches, adjusts to what you already know, and checks whether it actually stuck, instead of just answering questions. It's free, it's in public beta, and it's already live.
A lesson built around what you already know
Say "teach me transformers" and Melo asks how familiar you are, what you want out of it, and how much time you have. Then it builds a lesson to match, instead of a generic wall of text.

Ask it anything, mid-lesson or out of nowhere
Stuck on a concept, or just curious? Drop a question in the same chat, like "why does attention scale quadratically?", and Melo answers in context, using your current lesson as background.

Learn by talking it through, not just reading
Turn on interactive mode in any pathway chapter and Melo asks you questions as you go, in your own words, to check you actually understood the part before it, not just skimmed it.

Find out if it actually stuck
End any lesson with a short quiz Melo builds from what you just covered, not a generic test bank. Get a question wrong and Melo re-explains that exact piece before moving on.

Not just your dashboard
Melo is built into every skill, tool, agent, MCP server, and prompt page across the registry, so wherever you're reading, Melo can explain it right there.

Questions
What is Melo?
Melo is the AI tutor built into explainx.ai. It teaches a topic adjusted to what you already know, answers follow-up questions in chat, asks you comprehension questions inside pathway chapters, and quizzes you at the end of a lesson to check whether it actually stuck.
Is Melo free?
Yes. Melo is free for every explainx.ai user and is currently in public beta.
Where can I use Melo?
Melo is available on the dashboard learn page, inside interactive pathway chapters, and as a "Run with Melo" button on every skill, tool, agent, MCP server, and prompt page in the explainx.ai registry.
How is Melo's teach mode different from just asking a chatbot a question?
Before building a lesson, teach mode asks three quick questions (your familiarity with the topic, what you want out of it, and how much time you have) and tailors the lesson to those answers, instead of returning one generic explanation.
What is pathway talk-back mode?
It's an interactive mode you can turn on inside any pathway chapter. Instead of only reading, Melo asks you to explain a concept back in your own words and confirms whether your answer is correct before moving to the next part of the chapter.
Free during public beta. No catch.
We're actively tuning Melo based on how people actually use it. Try it on your dashboard, in a pathway, or on any skill page.
