Pixels Per Degree

Pixels per degree (PPD) measures how many display pixels fall within one degree of your field of view, and is the main sharpness metric for VR and mixed-reality headsets.

Ask Melo about this← all terms

Roughly 60 PPD matches 20/20 vision, often called retina resolution. Meta's VR Glasses are reported at 37 PPD with a 70 by 66 degree field of view, sharper than Quest-class panels but with a much narrower view. High PPD needs more pixels and compute, which is why it trades off against weight and field of view.
