In a router such as Cursor Auto, the user picks Auto (or another routing mode) while the backend chooses Claude, Grok, Composer, or another model per request. Flat-rate Auto billing charged the same regardless of that choice. Per-model pricing charges or draws included usage as if the user had selected the routed model. Cursor's August 24, 2026 change moves Auto onto this scheme and states that for most requests the draw is higher than the old flat Auto rate. Subscription users usually feel it as faster pool burn, not a new Auto sticker price.
