Google announced Expert Intelligence on August 27-28, 2026 as a cross-Google initiative bringing trusted, licensed sources into Gemini Notebook. Users combine purchased Google Play Books ebooks, professional subscriptions (coming soon), and personal Google Drive files in one notebook; every answer is grounded in those combined sources with inline citations linking back to the exact passage. Interacting with a book requires owning it through Google Play Books, and shared collaborators are prompted to purchase their own copy. Eligible titles carry a "Tools" badge on their Play Books page. Live in Gemini Notebook first, with AI Mode in Search and the Gemini app planned.
