Since Codex CLI 0.128.0, goals can be set, viewed, edited, paused, resumed, and cleared with /goal after enabling [features] goals in config.toml or codex features enable goals. The thread keeps working until evidence shows the finish line or you stop it. Recurring work uses Codex app Automations or a shell loop around codex exec.
