The insult is 'thin wrapper'; the reality is that UX, retrieval, evals, and permissions can be the whole product. Wrappers die when the lab ships the same feature natively, or when margins vanish as API prices fall. Durable wrappers own data, distribution, or a regulated workflow the lab will not touch.
